Rest in the Lord
Hello lovely ladies!
I pray you're having a good week. Today is HUMP DAAAY! So, today I thought we would talk about finding rest in Jesus. I'm doing this Bible study with my co-workers called Living Life Together by Shauna Niequist (check it out! It's awesome) and today's lesson was about rest. So often, we get caught up in our day to day tasks: classes, homework, work, gym, eating healthy, taking care of children, making dinner, doing laundry, etc, etc, etc. It can be exhausting! Plus, when we have so much on our minds, we often don't sleep well and wake up groggy and stressed. However, there is a way to find rest in ALL areas of our lives: mentally, physically, and most importantly, spiritually. God knows we go through a lot, but He also knows that a lot of what we deal with daily is extra stress we're putting on ourselves. Sometimes, we feel that the only way to be adequate is to serve others as much as possible. And while serving others is part of Christian living, we cannot allow ourselves to burn out. When we do, everything suffers, including our spiritual life. We spend less and less time with the Father. We feel sad and we feel like we cannot measure up no matter what we do. BUT, when we slow down, when we stop and are still for a moment, we see that God IS our REST. He is the way that we breathe; He is our oxygen. So, if you're feeling run down, if you lie awake at night wondering why sleep won't come, rest in the Father's arms; let Him be your refuge because He cares for us, He wants to give us the respite we so desperately search for. Let's rest in Him today, and every day.
Love,
Mariah xoxo
